Imagineer Systems Announces Immediate Availability of motor

imagineer motormotor Extends Powerful, High-End Visual Effects Design Capabilities to Affordable, Accessible Rotoscoping Design Tool for the Digital Media Design Community

GUILDFORD, UK (February 27, 2007) Imagineer Systems, creators of next-generation VFX tools, announced today the immediate availability of motor, the company’s first offering in its new initiative to deliver sophisticated, high-end visual effects and design capabilities to mainstream visual effects artists.

Specifically designed to be more affordable and accessible to a wider range of effects artists, motor delivers a unique approach to rotoscoping for high quality matte production for commercial, film and corporate video post production. motor is built on Imagineer’s industry-unique 2.5D planar tracking and Spline technology – an advanced design technology previously only afforded to high-end visual effects design tools.

"When our visual effects designers at BFX Imageworks first tested motor, it was a mind-blowing experience. Projects that were taking days to complete were now turning around in hours," said Steven Blasini, visual effects supervisor at BFX Imageworks in Los Angeles. "As a rotoscoping tool, motor stands alone with its planar tracker that literally blows all other ‘point’ trackers out of the water. It not only tracks X & Y motion, it also tracks perspective, and it does so on entire regions of the frame, without having to isolate individual tracking points. And considering it's tracking regions and not points, we were amazed at how fast it is. We’re convinced that motor will completely pay for itself with the first project you use it on. It is an invaluable tool for our studio and we could not give it a higher recommendation!"

"motor represents a significant step toward democratizing advanced design tools for the entire visual effects community, regardless of platform or budget, " said Allan Jaenicke, chief executive officer of Imagineer Systems. “We’ve adapted some of our most exclusive, sophisticated planar tracking technologies and integrated them into a powerful companion application for designers on a wide array of compositing platforms. With motor, Imagineer is making it possible for design shops of any size or budget to create stunning, evocative content with a new category of accessible and affordable tools. "

motor: High-End Power and Flexibility in An Accessible Companion Product
The software engineering team at Imagineer Systems has tapped into the Company's signature high-end visual effects technologies to create capabilities in motor previously only found in very high end visual effects tools.

Dedicated Rotoscope Software: motor is a dedicated rotoscope application with sophisticated Spline tools not available in traditional compositing applications. motor is designed exclusively for rotoscoping.

Tracking: The planar tracker in motor is an advanced tracking algorithm rooted in Imagineer’s high-end compositing and removal software.

Accelerated Rotoscope: motor enables users to rotoscope footage three to four times faster than with traditional tools. Unique integration between the tracker and rotoscope capabilities yields higher quality matte production with stunning details in significantly less time. This streamlined, accelerated workflow translates to high efficiency and cost savings in an increasingly competitive and time constrained environment for designers.

Broad Compatibility: motor complements users’ existing investments in post production hardware and software with seamless compatibility with industry-popular design platforms such as Autodesk discreet, Avid DS, Adobe After Effects, Quantel generationQ, and Apple Shake.

ZbornToy now available at Toolfarm, and a free plug-in!

zborntoymac universal ae7Taronites (Frischluft) ZbornToy is a depth and compositing tool for After Effects. The ZbornToy has the ability to extract a maximum of information out of simple depth images and allows you to not only light and texture them, but to refract backgrounds, cast caustic reflection back onto the background and a whole lot more.

Download a demo of ZbornToy

Also, the first free Taronite plug-in is an After Effects filter to reformat and normalize vectors as they are found in common normalmaps (RGB = XYZ). It allows a tilting and inverting of each axis or a global inversion of them all. The "traditional format" checkbox activates a conversion of floating point normal maps, which contain values from -1.0 to 1.0 into traditional normal map format 0.0 to 1.0. Some 3d packages export such "true" normals. This filter solves such issues immediately! But on top of that it can do some entertaining things to any image. It normalizes the color vector, which means it maximizes the saturation of any color. Tweaking can result it interesting effects! Get NormaliZe here: Mac | Win

PlasmaFXSan Francisco, CA -- January 30, 2007 - Digital Anarchy, a leading provider of cost-effective special effects software for Adobe® and Apple® products, today announced the release of PlasmaFX. This new filter set is a collection of powerful, fast effects developed using new Apple technology. You get cool new effects and great variations on existing ones, all with the potential to run and render very quickly within Apple native applications.

PlasmaFX plugins are based on Mac OS X's Core Image system. This base system provides an big boost in speed, making the effects real time in some cases. By using Mac OS X technology, the plugins take full advantage of new, multi-core CPUs and enhanced graphics cards. The speed is apparent in both Apple and Adobe host applications. In Final Cut Pro and Motion, PlasmaFX filters are built on Apple's new FxPlug architecture, which provides faster and more robust support than older, non-Apple architecture.

There are 26 plugins in the PlasmaFX set, creating a wide variety of custom effects that range from image processing to film looks and particle systems. New filters include the Topology filter, which generates topographical lines based on the luminance values of footage; the Film: Technicolor 3-Pass filter, which separates out color channels and 'dyes' them; and the Edge Rays filter. All the plugins have many customizable parameters for creating different effects and some plugins are designed to be combined with others to create further variations.

Terrific features in PlasmaFX 1.0 include:

  • 26 Plugins: A wide variety of image processing and synthesis filters.
  • Core Image: Accelerated using Apple's latest cutting edge technology.
  • Real-time on fast hardware: Support for multi-core CPUs and the latest OpenGL graphic cards.
  • FxPlug Support: Native functionality in Final Cut Pro and Motion
  • After Effects Support: Native functionality in Adobe After Effects.
  • MacIntel Native: Supports PPC and Intel chipsets for Macintosh.
  • Resolution Independent: No resolution limits. SD, HD, or Film.
  • Requires Mac OS X 10.4

Pricing and Availability

Regularly priced at USD $129, PlasmaFX 1.0 will be available for USD $99 through February 15th, 2007. The filters work in After Effects 7.0 and higher, Final Cut Pro 5.1.2, and Motion 2.1.2. PlasmaFX runs only on Macintosh OS 10.4 and higher. This product is not supported in Windows, earlier versions of Mac OS X, or Mac OS 9 systems. Demo filters and samples are available at www.digitalanarchy.com.
