Trapcode Plugins

You're probably sick of me saying how great the Trapcode plug-ins are, but have you taken them all for a test drive yet?

We've added the Trapcode suite to our Demos section. As always, it's free to try.

Jibjab does Budweiser.com

From Adrants: Anheuser-Busch has hired JibJab Media, creators of the animated video clip "This Land is Your Land," to craft online ads for the brewer. The two brother team, Gregg and Evan Spiridellis, will create web-based content designed to drive viewers to the Budweiser website. The duo have already created a clip, called, "Roll Out the Barrel," which hopes to combat the rising preference for spirits over beer among younger drinkers.

It's comic genius and it makes me want to go out and get completely blotto on Bud. 8-)

Desktops set Lucas plan

Desktops set Lucas plan - The Washington Times: Entertainment - May 20, 2005

An article about the computer technology behind Episode III, Revenge of the Sith. Verbatim: For "Sith," Mr. Gregoire set up AMD 64 processor-based desktop stations with 4 gigabytes of RAM and FX 3000 video cards running Microsoft Windows XP Pro, Alias' Maya and Adobe After Effects software to create a powerful new working environment.

I just think it's cool when huge movies use After Effects. I'm such a geek.

Yeah, we knew that.

Toolfarm Exclusive Tutorial: Shine Sky

shine skyTrapcode Shine has always been one of my favorite plug-ins and Shine Sky is a simple application of one way to use it.

This tutorial is geared toward beginners, but is still fun for seasoned pros. If you haven't tried Shine before, there is a link to Mac and Windows demos. The plug-in is inexpensive and a must-have... well, like all of the other Trapcode plugs! (Honest, I'm not just trying to hard sell you on them. They're great plug-ins. Really. No lie.)

The Da Vinci Code Trailer

The Da Vinci Code isn't out for another year, but the trailer is on Apple.com.

I love the cool shatter effect on the Mona Lisa toward the end of the trailer. It makes it look so big. I went to the Louvre in Paris and saw the real Mona Lisa a few years ago, and I was surprised to see how small it was. I couldn't get too close either.... way too many tourists. C'est la vie.

Digital camera raw file support plug-in

Adobe releases new camera raw 3.1 plug-in for Photoshop. It's free, too, but you need to be running Tiger or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP.

An Interview with Richard Harrington

Richard M. Harrington is a graphic artist, director, producer, editor, instructor, speaker and author, who I've been working with on an upcoming book for CMP. There will be more details about that later, but check out the article from Apple.com in the meantime.

Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

All the talk around town is about Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, so don't be the last one to have it. It is the "World's Most Advanced Operating System", afterall.

hulaI know upgrading is a big chore and a bit scary, but this is one cool OS. Do it for the Dashboard, a world of widgets on your screen. I hear the Hula Girl widget is very popular.

But seriously, there are over 200 new features and as soon as I have a few free hours, I'm upgrading my laptop. I'll experience more efficient battery usage because Tiger learns how I use your computer and automatically adjusts its power consumption to maximize battery life.

Upgraded to Tiger Yet?

MacFixIt has an article called Troubleshooting Solution for the Macintosh. I've heard that Mac OX X 10.4 is a little buggy but really cool. This article helps you get past the buggy part.
